Tenants at risk of eviction should contact LASO at (405) 554-4636 as soon as issues with housing or their landlord arise.
Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc may be able to provide you with free assistance if you qualify and live in Zip Codes 73111, 73119, or 73120. Do not wait for your eviction hearing. Call as soon as you have problems with your landlord.
If you’re facing eviction or having problems with your landlord, you have a right to get legal advice or representation to help you. This is known as your “right to counsel.” You can ask an attorney or advocate for help such as explanations of housing law, advice on how to talk with your landlord, and representation at your hearings.
When is Help Available?
It is always best to get information and ask for help as soon as issues arise. Do not wait for an eviction notice or hearing before contacting Legal Aid. If you’re having problems with your landlord or know you cannot pay rent because of a number of issues, call right away.
What Kind of Help is Available?
While this is not a financial assistance program, Right to Counsel can provide help such as legal advice and legal representation in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings related to civil legal matters that prevent your eviction, homelessness, or promote your housing stability.
It is important to note that there is not an income requirement for this program.
